CHICKASHA – The Drovers grabbed a third win on Monday afternoon in a sweep over Friends University.

After having beaten Friends 16-3 and 7-4 on Sunday, the Drovers took the game into the bottom of the ninth before securing the win.

CHICKASHA – The Drover baseball team opened at home with a bang. And then another.

In a home opening series, the Drovers ran over the Friends University Falcons, winning the first game 16-3 and the second 7-4 on Sunday afternoon.

Junior Eddie Cervantes made his first appearance on the mound at Bill Smith Ballpark, pitching the first four innings of the doubleheader. He didn’t give up a single hit during the 14 batters he faced...

CHICKASHA – February in Chickasha means Drover baseball is back. Head coach Mike Ross is confident in the group he’s assembled and is looking forward to a great 2012 season.

“Hopefully, they can hope to see the exciting game baseball,” he said. “We have a good club. I think they’ll be exciting to watch, so hopefully everybody will enjoy it when they come out and watch.”

CHICKASHA – Bringing back some key players and filling spots with new faces — freshmen and transfers alike — the 2012 Drover baseball team is set and ready for a strong spring.

“I’m pretty excited about it. I think we have a good club. It’s probably one of the better clubs we’ve had in the last few years,” head coach Mike Ross said. “For the most part, everyone is excited, and we’re ready to get started.”

CHICKASHA – In the Saddle has evolved over the years to become a fun face of USAO sports and a way for the community members to get to know the Drover athletes and coaches.

While USAO sports information director Jessica Jackson hosts the show, she gives credit to USAO video producer and Captain Video, David Duncan.

CHICKASHA – After an entire college career of proving himself both on the mound and in the classroom, Caleb Martin was named a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete.

He is the third Drover baseball player ever to receive this honor.

Martin, now a business administration graduate, pitched four seasons for the Drovers, grabbing several career pitching records at USAO.

CHICKASHA – The USAO baseball and softball teams look back at the now-completed 2011 season with pride. Both teams battled in every game throughout the season to meet their goal to reach the SAC tournament.

“All in all, it was a winning season, and the guys worked real hard all year to get where we wanted to go and that’s all you can really ask for,” Assistant Baseball Coach Matt Hibbitts said of the baseball team.

CHICKASHA – For the second year in a row, the USAO baseball and softball programs will host a four-man team golf scramble as a fun community gathering and athletic fundraiser.
