CHICKASHA – After the best start in school history and moving into third place in the conference, the University of Science and Arts’ baseball team found themselves ranked in the NAIA national top-25 for the first time Wednesday.
PLAINVIEW, Texas – Despite four errors, the University of Science and Arts cranked out 19 hits to beat No. 19 Wayland Baptist 12-10 in Sunday’s series finale. USAO took the final two games of the series to give the Drovers a very legitimate shot at cracking the top-25 with a 26-6 record overall and 10-5 record in conference.
PLAINVIEW, Texas – Led by a two-hit complete-game shutout performance including 10 strikeouts by junior pitcher Nate Hammons, the University of Science and Arts defeated No. 19 Wayland Baptist 5-0 in game two of Saturday’s doubleheader. USAO had to settle for a split as WBU took game one 17-14.
CHICKASHA – Scoring the winning run in the sixth inning of game one and a run-rule win in game two, the University of Science and Arts took both games of Saturday’s doubleheader at Bill Smith Ballpark. USAO defeated Calumet College of St. Joseph 3-2 in game one and 12-0 in game two to improve to 21-5 overall.
SHAWNEE – Hours before the men’s basketball team pulled off the upset of the year by eliminating second-ranked Oklahoma Baptist from the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament, the Bison pulled off an upset of their own.
