2012: In his first season at USAO, Mitchell pitched 26.1 innings in nine appearances. He saw five starts for the season and earned a record of 3-2. He had a season-high eight strikeouts in an April game against Hillsdale College. In that game, he allowed just two hits in six innings. For the season, Mitchell threw 28 strikeouts and allowed just 21 earned runs.

2010-11: Before attending USAO, Mitchell  pitched two seasons at New Mexico Junior College, where he was named All-Conference First Team. A highlight was when it pitched nine innings against No. 3 Howard College and allowed just one run, earning the win.

High School: Mitchell attended Mgr-Richard High School, where he earned the Jack Amber Honor.
