CHICKASHA – The Drovers continue their home success on Saturday afternoon, defeating Northwood University 77-64.
The Drovers (7-1) have not lost yet at home. Their only loss was in overtime against No. 17 Texas Wesleyan.
On Saturday, the Drovers scored within the first minute and held the lead — which got up to 28 points in the second half — for the remainder of the game.
Brandon Cutler recorded his third double double of the season with 22 points and 16 rebounds. He shot 50 percent from the field on Saturday.
Norris Rumph also had 22 points in the game, going 6-for-8 from beyond the arc. He also had four steals.
Junior Shavon Scott had nine points, five rebounds and three assists. Jahseth Lloyd, a junior from Brooklyn, N.Y., was second on the team in rebounding with 13 in the game to go along with his eight points.
The Drovers, who shot just 37 percent on the night, won the game 77-64.
It was Student Appreciation Day at the USAO Fieldhouse and students from all schools were admitted for free. Chickasha High School Pom Pom squad entertained fans with performances at half.
The win gives Coach Brisco McPherson his 299th in his career at USAO. He will be looking for his 300th at home in the conference opener against No. 5 Rogers State in 2013. Tip off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
The theme for the opening game of 2013 is Crush the Cap Nap, and fans are encouraged to wear their pajamas to the game.
