CHICKASHA – A strong offensive game for the No. 23 Drovers led them to a 10-point victory over conference foe Lubbock Christian in a Saturday afternoon meeting.
The game went back-and-forth for the first few minutes before the Drovers (10-4, 3-3) were able to pull out to a commanding lead, entering halftime up 41-24.
USAO led the entire second half — at one point by as much as 26 — before ultimately winning their third conference game and 10th overall.
The Drovers were spot on in the game, shooting nearly 61 percent from the field and more than 56 percent from the three-point line. Keeping their consistency, they had 41 points exactly in both halves to top the Chaps 82-72.
Norris Rumph led the team with 20 points and three assists. He went 5-for-6 in the game and was perfect from beyond the arc (3-3) and at the line (7-7).
The only other play to score in the double digits was Kennis White, who had 11 points, shooting 50 percent from the field in the game. Senior Brandon Cutler had nine points — seven of which were scored for the charity stripe — and had seven rebounds.
Jahseth Lloyd led the team in rebounds with nine. He also had six points.
The Drovers had 33 of their points coming off the bench and 24 in the paint.
With back-to-back home wins, the No. 23 Drovers have put themselves in a good position entering Tuesday’s NAIA Top 25 poll.
The Drovers will play No. 5 Oklahoma Baptist at home at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Arvest Bank is sponsoring that game.
