CHICKASHA – Finishing the regular season with a four-game winning streak, the Drover men have secured their spot as fourth seed in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament next week in Shawnee.
The Drovers (16-8) will face fifth-seeded Lubbock Christian (15-13) at 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Oklahoma Baptist is hosting the tournament, and all games will be played at OBU’s Noble Complex.
The winner will go on to face an undetermined opponent at 6 p.m. Friday. The championship game is scheduled for 8 p.m. Saturday. The winner of the SAC Tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NAIA Men’s Basketball National Tournament.
The Drovers scored 82 points in each of their two games against the LCU Chaps this season, winning both games.
At home in mid-January, the Drovers won by 10 points, thanks in part to Norris Rumph, who had 20 points and Kennis White, who had 11. LCU’s Jamaal Crayton had 15 points. In that game, the Drovers shot 61 percent from the field.
The Drovers faced LCU again just a few days ago and scored 49 points in the second half to come back from an eight-point deficit to win the game. Rumph had 31 points in the game, while Graham Faulkner had 12 and White had 10. LCU’s A.J. Luckey had 22.
Admission tickets to the tournament will be $5 for students and $10 for adults.
