Drovers upset No. 10 on Senior Day

CHICKASHA –  The Drover men made a statement on Saturday evening against Top 10 Rogers State to earn a fifth seed in the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament next week.

The Drover men got off to a quick lead on Saturday over the No. 10 Hillcats with jumpers by Phillip Harris and Kyle Hunt and led the entire game.

The Drovers continued to extend their lead and entered halftime up 37-22. In the second half, USAO was up by as much as 27 points before finishing the game 81-63.

Hunt had his 15th double-double of the season with 20 points and 15 rebounds in the game. Harris followed with 18 points, and Norris Rumph had another 17 for the Drovers.

The Drovers shot more than 49 percent from the field in the game.

USAO is 15-13 overall and 11-11 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.

The win puts the Drovers at fifth seed in the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament, which will begin Thursday in Siloam Springs, Ark. The Drovers will take on Southern Nazarene, who they’ve beaten twice this season.

It was Senior Day and the Drovers honored seniors Kyle Hunt, Trell Porter and Drew Godwin.

USAO also debuted its brand new Drover mascot — Dusty the Drover — at halftime of both games.
