Turn around is fair play: The Drovers pulled out a victory in their home opener against Langston University on Monday night.
USAO defeated the Langston Lions 73-88. Less than a week before, Langston beat the Drovers by five points in Langston.
Head Coach Brisco McPherson said he thought his young team did a good job against the veteran Lions.
“We’re pretty young and I thought they did pretty good,” he said. “We’ve still got a lot of improvement we need to do. It’s a work in progress.”
Fred Savoie was USAO’s biggest scorer with 27 points, including nine field goals and nine free throws. Mike Randle scored 19 points and Thomas Peters scored 13 for the Drovers.
USAO has a regular season record of 1-1.
The Drovers will take on Southeastern Oklahoma State University at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at Southeastern. They won’t play at home again until Dec. 5 at 8 p.m. against John Brown University – USAO’s first conference game.
