CHICKASHA – After collecting 54 points and 21 rebounds in two games last week, Kyle Hunt was named Sooner Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.
Hunt, a 6-foot-10 forward, had a career-high 36 points and a career-high 16 rebounds in a conference win over Mid-America Christian on Saturday. It was his second double double of the season. He went 13-for-17 from the field and made 10 of his 12 free throws. He also had six blocks and three assists.
That performance followed an 18-point, five-rebound game against Oklahoma City a few days earlier. He went 6-for-6 from the free throw line in that game and also had five blocks.
Additionally, in an exhibition game against Central Oklahoma on Tuesday of last week, he had 16 points and five rebounds.
Hunt is the Drovers’ leading scorer and averages 16.9 points a game. He also leads the team in rebounds, averaging 8.4 a game, and blocks, with 15 total on the season.
He leads the conference in defensive rebounds per game, putting him 23rd in the division in that category, and in total rebounds per game, which puts him 25th in the division.
Additionally rankings include No. 11 in the division and second in the conference in blocks per game with 2.2, and No. 11 in the division and fourth in the conference in field goal percentage. Hunt makes nearly 65 percent of his shots.
He is a criminal justice senior from Queens, N.Y. He joins the Drovers from Middle Tennessee State.
