Men fall to Northwestern, women top Rangers

It was a tale of two halves Saturday night against Northwestern Oklahoma State University and one Drover team earned a victory.

The men played strong in the first half but were not able to keep the intensity throughout the game.

Junior Anthony Turner stood out Saturday night earning his fifth double double of the season. Turner had 10 points and 19 rebounds with three assists for the Drovers. Thomas Peters had 17 points.

The men were defeated 69-55.

The Lady Drovers were the opposite -- struggling to make shots during much of the first half but coming out strong after halftime. They sank only 22 percent of their shots during the first half but made some halftime adjustments and scored almost two times as many points in the second half.

Aita Gueye was the team’s highest scorer with 16 points Saturday night. She also had six rebounds and three assists.

Krista Beaty had 15 for the Drovers, with four rebounds and an assist, and Charitie Lewis has 11 points and seven rebounds.

USAO won the game with a final score of 57-64.

Both teams head to Texas next week to take on Lubbock Christian University on Thursday and will play at home again Feb. 15 against Rogers State University.
