CHICKASHA – Continuing in the tough Sooner Athletic Conference, the Drovers faced No. 16 Mid-America Christian on Thursday evening, dropping 93-79 to the Evangels’ high-powered offense.
The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (8-9, 5-5) kept the game close until it slipped away in the final few minutes of the game against MACU (12-5, 8-3).
Jahseth Lloyd led the team in scoring with 22 points and tied teammate David Tucker, Jr., in most rebounds with seven. Tucker also had 12 points and four assists.
Second in scoring for USAO on Thursday was Tyler Reynolds, who had 21 points and seven assists. He went 5-for-6 from beyond the arc and a perfect 4-for-4 from the line.
Shavon Scott added another 10 to the Drovers’ total.
The Drovers travel on the road to take on Oklahoma Baptist at 5 p.m. Saturday before returning home for their annual Pink Out Cancer game next Thursday night. The Drovers play (4) Southwestern Assemblies of God, a new conference opponent. Tip off is schedule for 8 p.m.
Fans from both schools are encouraged to wear pink as a unified front against the devastating illness.
Drovers Against Cancer will host and have a special honor for survivors and caregivers. The club also will be selling tickets to raffle off autographed team photos of each of the Drover teams in their pink gear.
