As the regular season wraps up for the Drover men’s basketball team (11-12, 8-8), senior Jahseth Lloyd said continuing to play hard until the end is the ultimate goal for the team.
“The season is going OK,” he said. “Everybody is playing hard and not giving up no matter what the situation is so I think toward the end of the season, we will have a winning record and be all right.”
With just four more games left in the regular season, the Drovers are sitting at sixth in the Sooner Athletic Conference. The top five teams enter the SAC Tournament, hosted March 5-8 at Oklahoma Baptist, while the remaining conference teams will play in “play-in” games to secure their spots.
“We are mainly focusing on trying to finish off strong,” Lloyd said. “(We want to) try to win these last four games and have a good seed in the conference tournament. And hopefully win it all in the conference tournament.”
Lloyd, who was named the NAIA Player of the Week last week, leads the team in points per game (20.3), rebounds (134) and blocks (26). He has six double-doubles on the season and has scored in double figures in all except one game.
“To me, my first role is to defend and rebound. And then, if the points come, then they come,” he said. “I just try to do anything I can to help the team come out with the victory.”
