SHAWNEE – A strong performance by the Drovers led to another Sooner Athletic Conference tournament win as they upset the third-seeded, nationally-ranked Saint Gregory’s Cavaliers 78-74 on Thursday night at Oklahoma Baptist.
The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (15-14) goes on to play Wayland Baptist in the semifinals at 8 p.m. Thursday at Oklahoma Baptist’s Noble Complex.
SHAWNEE – The Drovers took their first step toward the Sooner Athletic Conference Championship, winning game one of the SAC tournament on Wednesday with a 76-66 final over Southwestern Christian.
“The first win is the hardest win,” Drover Head Coach Vinson Metcalf said. “We’d already been Southwestern Christian twice, and it’s hard to beat a team three times. The team did what they’re supposed to do.”
CHICKASHA – The Sooner Athletic Conference honored USAO athletes Jahseth Lloyd and Shavon Scott with post-season recognition, the conference released Monday.
Lloyd, a senior forward from Brooklyn, N.Y., was named All-Conference Second Team while teammate and fellow senior Scott earned All-Conference Honorable Mention honors. Scott is a guard from Milwaukee, Wis.
CHICKASHA – The sixth-seeded University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma Drovers are set to face 11th-seed Southwestern Christian in a Wednesday afternoon play-in game for the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament.
