CHICKASHA – Mike Williamson led the Drovers to win the 2002 NAIA Men’s Basketball Championship, and almost a decade later, he returned to USAO to finish his degree and again help lead the team.

CHICKASHA – Coach Brisco McPherson has announced the dates for his 26th annual summer basketball camp.

Campers have two options – a day camp for students ages 12-16 and a mini camp for students ages 6-11. The day camp will be June 4-8. There are two dates for the mini camp, and campers can attend June 4-8 or June 25-29.

The day camp, which includes lunch, is $110. The mini camp is $60.

CHICKASHA – Coaches knew they had a winner when they recruited Kyle Hunt for the 2011-12 season, and Hunt proved them right, grabbing another honor this week: NAIA All-America First Team.

Hunt is one of only two players in the Sooner Athletic Conference to be named All-America First Team.

The 6-foot-10 senior averaged nearly 18 points a game, racking up a total of 499 on the season.

CHICKASHA – While the season may not have gone exactly as the coaches had predicted, the men’s basketball team at USAO played hard and athletically and made the coaches proud.

“From an overall coaches perspective, I think we were quite pleased with our guys’ effort,” assistant coach Vinson Metcalf said. “I think we put together some games where our athleticism came out and the guys really played hard.”

SILOAM SPRINGS, ARK. – No. 23 Southern Nazarene was just too much for the Drovers in the third match up of the season, this time in the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament.

CHICKASHA – After clinching the fifth seed in the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament, the Drover men are preparing to face No. 23 Southern Nazarene for the third time this season.

The Drovers (15-13, 11-11) play the fourth-seeded Crimson Storm at 9:45 p.m. Thursday in Siloam Springs, Ark. The whole tournament will be hosted at John Brown University.

CHICKASHA – Two Drover men were given special All-Conference honors while two other Drovers were named All-SAC Honorable Mention.

Kyle Hunt was voted as being one of the best players in Sooner Athletic Conference basketball. He was named Co-Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year, while Ben Berry was named Freshman of the Year.

CHICKASHA –  The Drover men made a statement on Saturday evening against Top 10 Rogers State to earn a fifth seed in the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament next week.
