CHICKASHA — Running among 218 other racers on Saturday, freshman Jeffrey Poolaw set his own personal record for an eight-kilometer course, beating out his time from earlier this month by nearly 25 seconds.
Poolaw finished the race, which is roughly five miles, in 31:36.05. He has improved his time steadily in each of the three eight-kilometer races USAO has competed in.
But it was Kieran Brennan who was the Drovers’ top runner in Saturday’s race, which was the NAIA Mid-States Classic at Southwestern College in Kansas. Brennan finished in 30:54.64.
Teammate Matthew Crow wasn’t far behind him, finishing in 31:33.73, just three seconds before Poolaw’s finish.
Junior Aaron Manuel finished with a time of 36:29.57, while senior Chisum Lane finished in 41:04.52.
As a team, the Drovers finished 25th as a team, just minutes behind Bethel.
It was the Drovers final regular season meet of the year. They are expected to run, however, in the conference race on Nov. 3 at Oklahoma Baptist.
