CHICKASHA – Second-half goals by Antonio Junior and Daniel Gibson helped the University of Science and Arts cruise to a 2-0 win over Oklahoma Christian Tuesday afternoon at Drover Field. The Drovers, who started the season 8-0, snapped a two-game winless streak and are just one game out of first place in the league.
USAO improved to 9-1-1 on the season and 3-1-1 in Sooner Athletic Conference play with a dominating performance against the Eagles. Goalkeeper Ricardo Moriera recorded his sixth shutout of the season and his ninth overall. The Drovers outshot OC 15-9 in the first half, 24-10 overall and managed eight more shots on goal.
After a scoreless first half, Junior knocked in the first goal in the 57th minute. Gibson added the insurance goal just seven minutes later.
The USAO women had to postpone their game against the Lady Eagles due to a flat tire on the team bus. As of press time, no make-up date has been set. Both teams are back in action Saturday afternoon at St. Gregory’s. The teams will play two home doubleheaders next week against Oklahoma City and Rogers State.
