CHICKASHA – The Drovers have qualified for their fourth straight NAIA Men’s Soccer National Tournament berth, the NAIA announced Sunday evening.
Earlier Sunday, the NAIA released the final Top 25 Poll, putting the Drovers tied for fourth with Concordia University in California.
The Drovers (13-0-4) go into the tournament undefeated, despite being knocked off in the first round of the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament. The Drovers tied Oklahoma City after two overtimes in the SAC Quarterfinals, but OCU advanced on penalty kicks 5-4.
USAO has been ranked in the Top 10 all season, having started the season seventh. They reached as high as third before post-season hit. They earned the regular season SAC Title and went into the tournament top seed.
Oklahoma Baptist went on to win the SAC Tournament Championship, and therefore also received a bid to the national tournament. The Drovers earned the second of eight at-large bids.
The pairings for the National Tournament are expected to be released on Monday afternoon. There is a good likelihood that USAO will host the Opening Round at Hampton Field at Chickasha High School. Hosting or not, the game will be on Nov. 17.
