In what is becoming a streak, the USAO men's soccer team shut out their fifth consecutive opponent Oct. 2 when they held the Evangels of Mid-America to a score of 3-0 at Drover Dome in Chickasha.
The game came down to defense as the Drovers defense allowed the offense to outshoot the Evangels 24-5. Ryan Mcentee of Glasgow, Scotland, had three key saves throughout the game as a result of the Evangels five shots. USAO's Aiden Ashmore of Moore also was key for the Drover defense.
At the 30:06 minute marker, Nikola Cakarevic of Belgrade, Serbia, scored the game's first goal with an assist from Dusan Rasovic of Belgrade, Serbia. Later in the second half, David Otieno of Nairobi, Kenya, found Cakarevic open. Cakarevic made a move to the inside where he flew the ball past the goalkeeper to advance the score to 2-0 at the 62:12 minute marker.
After a few minutes, the Drovers were ready to score again, as Jeremy Kari Kari of Essex, Scotland, passed the ball to Otieno who scored the third and last goal of the evening at the 65:29 minute marker.
The Drover men's season record goes to 9-1 and 2-0 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. They are at home again Oct. 6 when they take on Southern Nazarene at 4 p.m. The game will be live on Twitter at www.twitter.com/usaolive.
