CHICKASHA -- Assistant Coach Alexis Vizarelis got some exciting news Sunday evening: The Drover soccer season wasn’t over and the Drover men would head to Brownsville, Texas to represent USAO in the NAIA National Tournament.
Last season, the Drover men lost in the opening round of the tournament and are eager to do one better this time around.
“’We really want to go one step forward. I think that’s how you gage success, by taking a step forward,” Vizarelis said. “If we can get past this first hurdle, then it bodes well for the future.”
The game will kick off at 6 p.m. Nov. 20 in Texas.
The Drover women also had a great run this year but came up short in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament against John Brown. After having lost to JBU just days earlier, the women took the Golden Eagles to overtime in the second match up.
“It think it just showed us what our women are capable of,” he said. “It’s great to see the girls realize what they can achieve when they work hard.”
