USAO will celebrate its 40th Anniversary of Drover Athletics in first weekend of November. Registration, which is just $65 for a weekend full of events, is open currently, but prices will increase in less than two weeks. The deadline for early bird registration is Sept. 30.

CHICKASHA – The Drovers remain undefeated after a 4-0 shutout over Northwood University on Friday afternoon.

I took the Drovers a while to catch their stride in the home match. Despite outshooting the Knights 7-3 in the first half, the game went into halftime scoreless.

Finally, 65 minutes into the game junior Perry Sansford got things rolling with the first goal of the game off an assist by Liam Madden.

CHICKASHA – Despite a tough battle for 110 minutes on Saturday afternoon, the Drovers found themselves earning their second tie of the season as the game against Lyon College ended scoreless after two overtime periods.

While they got 17 shots off during the game, the Drovers (2-0-2) struggled to net the ball while defending their own goal nearly flawlessly.

“We’re a young team, so it’s been a real good start for us,” Byars said of the first three games. “The concerns are still there. But we’ve had some boys step up into positions, so it’s not as bad as it was at the very, very beginning.”

CHICKASHA – For the first time in school history, the Drover men’s soccer team broke into the NAIA Top 5, sitting at third in the nation in the most recent NAIA Poll.

“It shows a great amount of respect and recognition for what our program has been able to do the last couple of years, combined with a few big wins this year,” Head Coach Jimmy Hampton said. “We’re honored people think we are headed to new heights.”

CHICKASHA – Junior Nicolas Alberto’s game-winner over No. 2 Baker University earned him the title Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

Alberto, a forward from Paris, France, scored in the 108th minute of Friday’s game to give seventh-ranked Drovers the win in double overtime over second-ranked Baker in the NAIA Game of the Week.

CHICKASHA – Two weeks before classes begin, USAO soccer players stepped foot on campus and have been focusing on fitness and tactical work in daily workouts to prepare for the big opening of the 2012 season.
