Drovers take down Bison, advance to finals

CHICKASHA – Eager to prove their worth at top seed, the Drover men scored two goals against the Bison on Monday afternoon to send themselves to the Sooner Athletic Conference Finals and keep their national tournaments hopes alive.

Three Drovers named Capitol One Academic All-District

CHICKASHA – Epitomizing student-athlete, three USAO Drover soccer players were named Capitol One Academic All-District on Friday.

To earn the honor, athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher, be at least of sophomore status and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s games. One Drover man, Niall Crick, and two Drover women, Leslie Bross and Gabby Barros, earned the honor.

Drovers overrun the Pioneers, move on to semis

CHICKASHA – Facing Wayland Baptist for a second time this season, the Drovers seemed to have no trouble against the eighth-seeded Pioneers in the Sooner Athletic Conference Quarterfinals.

A 3-1 win sends the Drovers to the semifinals, where they will host Oklahoma Baptist at 2 p.m. Monday at Drover Pitch.

Top-seeded Drovers to host Wayland

CHICKASHA – After clinching the regular season SAC title more than a week early, the top-seeded Drover men (13-4, 9-1) have the opportunity to host the entire SAC tournament if they continue to win.

The men will play their first game against Wayland Baptist at 2 p.m. Friday. The Drovers topped the Pioneers 2-1 in second overtime earlier this season.

CHICKASHA – With two games left in the regular season, the Drover men earned their seventh regular season conference title.

Parkinson named Player of the Week

CHICKASHA – Anchoring a back line that had two shutouts and serving as one of USAO’s leading scorers in two conference games earned Scott Parkinson the Sooner Athletic Conference Defensive Player the Week award.

Two Drovers named SAC Player of the Week

CHICKASHA – After a combined 6-0 record last week from the Drover men’s and women’s teams, two Drovers were named Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 17.
