Drovers stomp the Ravens

CHICKASHA – The Drovers had two shutouts – including one no-hitter – in a Tuesday afternoon doubleheader against Benedictine College.

Neesha Sorrell pitched the first game, throwing 11 strikeouts and giving up just one hit in the five-inning game.

Designated player Liz Agpalo went 2-for-2 with three runs and three RBIs in the game.

Shortstop Taylor Smith went 2-for-3 with one run and two RBIs on a home run in the fourth inning.

Second baseman Skyler Nichols and right fielder Markie LaFerney each had two runs while Ashley Mitchell and Kayla Adams each had one. The Drovers won the first game 10-0.

Agpalo then went on to throw a no-hitter in game two. She pitched all five innings of the game and threw seven strikeouts.

First baseman Sara Reeves went 2-for-2 with two runs in the game. Kristin Moyers, who caught in game two, went had a two RBI home run.

Morgan Singleton, normally a pitcher who came in as a pinch hitter in the fourth inning, hit a three RBI homer.

Also scoring in game two were McFerney, Whitney St. John, Chelsea Zuchnik and Brooke McLeod. The Drovers won 8-0.

The wins propel the Drovers to a 13-7 overall record. They head to Shawnee to take on Saint Gregory’s on Thursday and to Alva to play Northwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday. Their next home game will begin at 2 p.m. next Tuesday against Southern Nazarene.
