Kimberly, Gourley lead Drovers to series sweep

CHICKASHA – With help from pitchers Ashlyn Kimberly and Felicia Gourley, the Lady Drovers pulled off a double victory Monday afternoon against Mid-America Christian.

Gourley pitched a complete first game, giving up only six hits and two earned runs on the way to a 3-2 win. She threw five strikeouts against the Lady Evangels.

Junior Whitney Bellamy hit a home run for USAO, tying the game 1-1 in the fourth. Bellamy, a first baseman from Anadarko, went two for three in the first game.

Shortstop Hillary Brown batted .500 in the first game and scored the Drovers second run on a slide at home.

Catcher Amanda Cave, of Frisco, went two for three with one RBI. She also scored the final run for USAO off an RBI by junior Samantha Fowler in the sixth.

The Drovers remained strong in the second game of the day. Kimberly took her spot in the circle and allowed only four hits in her complete game. She threw four strikeouts the way to the Drovers 4-1 win. Kimberly also had a win on Sunday against Oklahoma Christian.

The Lady Evangels took a quick lead in the first inning, but Bellamy again scored the Drovers first run in the fourth. Senior Bree MacIntyre, who batted Bellamy in, followed shortly after with another run in the same inning.

After batting senior Rosy Campos in the following inning, Bellamy scored her second run of the second game off an RBI by Cave. Bellamy went two for three with two runs and an RBI.

MacIntyre batted 1.000 in the second game, scoring one run and batting a runner in, while Campos went one for two and scored a run.

The Drovers are 15-33 overall and now 6-26 in the conference. They will play at home Thursday afternoon against Northwestern Oklahoma State for Senior Day. The first pitch of the doubleheader is at 2 p.m.
