CHICKASHA – After throwing a no-hitter, three shutouts and 36 strikeouts last week, true freshman Neesha Sorrell was named Sooner Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week.
Sorrell, of Newcastle, pitched four of the Drovers’ seven games last week, winning each one. The Drovers went 5-2 on the week and are 20-12 overall.
Throwing a 0.91 ERA this week, she shut out the University of Texas at Dallas, Dordt College and Friends University. Additionally, the freshman helped the Drovers earn an 18-3 win over Haskell Indian Nations University in just four innings.
Her no-hitter came against Dordt, where she faced 17 batters and threw 11 strikeouts.
Sorrell is 10-3 for the season, having thrown 92 strikeouts and the lowest ERA on the team at 2.23. She ranks among conference bests in strikeouts thrown and total wins.
Sorrell is the daughter of Keith Sorrell and Charlotte Peckinpaugh.
