CHICKASHA – Southern Nazarene, now second in conference standings, proved too much for the Drovers on Tuesday afternoon in a Chickasha doubleheader.
The Drovers took the first game into the sixth inning before either team gave up a run, but a strong five-run inning by the Crimson Storm put the Drovers in trailing position.
USAO got on the board when Katie Jirak scored an unearned run in the bottom of the sixth. Catcher Kristin Moyers then homered in the seventh to give the Drovers another run. The runs weren’t enough, however, as the Drovers fell 5-2.
Neesha Sorrell pitched nearly six innings and threw seven strikeouts in the game.
The Drovers struck first in the second game when Moyers scored her second run of the day off an RBI from Jirak in the fourth inning.
USAO then gave up three runs in the top of the fifth before a balk bottom of the inning scored Ashley Mitchell. The Storm went on to win 4-2.
The Drovers are 15-9 overall and 3-5 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. They take on Northwood University on Thursday for a home doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m.
