CHICKASHA – The Drovers pulled out two victories after scoring 19 runs in home conference games on Wednesday afternoon against Oklahoma Baptist, who is currently receiving votes nationally.
After winning the first one with a solid 9-3 margin, the Drovers (17-10, 3-5) turned around to give up a 7-0 lead in game two and take the game into the bottom of the eighth inning before pulling out the 10-9 victory.
CHICKASHA – With a new coach and a small team, the Drovers were bound to deal with a few hiccups through the season, but it’s nothing they aren’t eagerly fighting through, said Brooke McLeod, a junior hitting pitcher.
“We have a small team. It’s basically about just coming together,” she said. “But we’re going to get there. We are a strong team; we play together well.”

CHICKASHA – The Drovers won both games of a Wednesday afternoon doubleheader against Morningside College to advance to 10-6 on the season.
After traveling all the way from Iowa, it was the Morningside Mustangs who struck first, scoring in the third inning of the first game. The Drovers retaliated in the bottom of that inning with a run by Markie LaFerney off a single by shortstop Taylor Smith.
CHICKASHA – Rogers State was able to take both games against the Drovers in a Tuesday afternoon conference doubleheader at Bill Smith Ballpark.
After giving up some early runs, the Drovers grabbed two of their own in the bottom of first after pitcher Brooke McLeod doubled to center field score lead off hitter Katie Jirak and third baseman Ashley Rasovic.
CHICKASHA – Starting the season 6-2, the Drover softball team — composed exclusively of returning players — is off to a strong start, said first year head coach Jadyn Smith-Wallis.
“They know exactly what each other is going to do. There are no surprises. I think that is going to be a huge factor for us this year,” she said. “I feel like the girls are really competing and working as a unit. We are fired up, definitely fired up...
