CHICKASHA – With the 2012 season wrapped up, assistant softball coach Ken Richardson said he looks back on a job well done, despite some moments of turmoil.
“I was pleased with this season,” he said. “We had our ups and downs as normally we do during softball. But overall, he had a good season. We made it to where we wanted to go — to the conference playoffs.”
CHICKASHA — Regular season might be over, the Drovers still have to face some of the nation’s best in the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament, set to begin Friday.
USAO, who enter sixth seed for the second year in a row, will play third-seeded Southern Nazarene in the first round. The Crimson Storm, who swept the Drovers in the regular season at home, are ranked 15th nationally.
CHICKASHA – With just two conference doubleheaders left before the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament, the Drovers are fighting for seeding in the tough conference.
“The season has gone really great. At the beginning we have had a couple of rough spots coming together as a team,” senior Liz Agpalo said. “But by the end we finally pulled together … for the most part, it’s gotten a lot better. We’ve surprised a couple of teams.”...
CHICKASHA – Facing a tough top 15 team on Senior Day, the Drovers took the split against the No. 13 Saint Gregory’s Cavaliers on Tuesday afternoon at Bill Smith Ballpark.
Sophomore pitcher Neesha Sorrell threw eight strikeouts in the first game, but the Drovers were not able to grab a victory and fell 5-0. The Drovers turned around, however, to shutout the Cavs in game two.
