CHICKASHA – After two winning seasons in a row, Softball Head Coach Jenn White has announced that she’s leaving USAO to spend more time with her children and pursue teaching.

White has coached the softball program for three seasons.

CHICKASHA – With the 2012 season wrapped up, assistant softball coach Ken Richardson said he looks back on a job well done, despite some moments of turmoil.

“I was pleased with this season,” he said. “We had our ups and downs as normally we do during softball. But overall, he had a good season. We made it to where we wanted to go — to the conference playoffs.”

CHICKASHA – Three Drover softball players were named All-Conference for the Sooner Athletic Conference after astounding play all season.

Pitcher Neesha Sorrell and shortstop Taylor Smith were named All-Conference Second Team while Chelsea Zuchnik earned the team’s only Gold Glove honor.

OKLAHOMA CITY – Playing the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament for the second year in a row, the Drover softball team battled three tough SAC opponents before falling in double elimination.

“I am proud of the girls. We have been though a lot on and off the field this year, and we managed to reach our goal,” Coach Jenn White said. “I think next year we should reach even a little higher.”

CHICKASHA — Regular season might be over, the Drovers still have to face some of the nation’s best in the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament, set to begin Friday.

USAO, who enter sixth seed for the second year in a row, will play third-seeded Southern Nazarene in the first round. The Crimson Storm, who swept the Drovers in the regular season at home, are ranked 15th nationally.

CHICKASHA – Sophomore pitcher Neesha Sorrell broke a school record in strikeouts thrown on Tuesday afternoon in a split against Oklahoma Baptist.

Sorrell propelled the Drovers to the win in the ninth inning of game one against the Bison with 16 strikeouts. She allowed just four hits and walked just one batter.

Michelle Bauer previously held the record of 15 strikeouts thrown in a game against Northwestern Iowa in 2007....

CHICKASHA – With just two conference doubleheaders left before the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament, the Drovers are fighting for seeding in the tough conference.

“The season has gone really great. At the beginning we have had a couple of rough spots coming together as a team,” senior Liz Agpalo said. “But by the end we finally pulled together … for the most part, it’s gotten a lot better. We’ve surprised a couple of teams.”...

CHICKASHA – Facing a tough top 15 team on Senior Day, the Drovers took the split against the No. 13 Saint Gregory’s Cavaliers on Tuesday afternoon at Bill Smith Ballpark.

Sophomore pitcher Neesha Sorrell threw eight strikeouts in the first game, but the Drovers were not able to grab a victory and fell 5-0. The Drovers turned around, however, to shutout the Cavs in game two.

CHICKASHA – The Drovers grabbed two late victories in a Monday afternoon doubleheader against conference foe Rogers State.

In the first game, the Drovers quickly got on the board when Ashley Mitchell scored off a single by Taylor Smith.

CHICKASHA – The USAO softball team took yet another two from the Northwestern Oklahoma State Rangers on Tuesday afternoon and were just a pitch away from a double shutout.

The Drovers dominated the first game, winning it 5-0.

In just the second inning, first baseman Sara Reeves hit her first career home run out to right center, putting the Drovers in the lead.
