Drover Dancers

Gracing the sidelines and promoting Drover support for the last two years have been USAO’s own Drover Dancers, a squad that developed out of the former cheerleading team.

Much like in the past, the Drover Dancers will perform during halftimes and create a presence on the sidelines. This year, the Dancers also will have dances corresponding with some of the basketball game themes.

Led by Emily Hector, the Dancers have been fine-tuning their performances since finalizing the squad after tryouts in early September.

In addition to coaching the squad, Hector is an adjunct professor at USAO, Chickasha High School pom coach and owner and teacher of Love to Dance studio.

USAO Pep Band

Much like last year, the band will play a variety of music, including some fan favorites — like OutKast’s “Hey Ya” and Queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust”— to go along with their traditional repertoire of the USAO Fight Song and Star Spangled Banner. You may even learn who to call if there’s something strange in your neighborhood.

While the band is smaller in size than previous years, students participating are dedicated to making the pep band a tradition at USAO basketball games.

Completing the pep band is a couple of guitars, a drum set, a couple of trumpets, a trombone, and yes, even a cowbell. A special treat this year is that Dr. Dan Hanson will be joining the band to play base.

The band again is led by music senior Dylan Nagode, who was in charge of the band for the 2011-12 season as well.
