CHICKASHA – Success both on the court and in the classroom is essential for any student-athlete at USAO, and junior Maggie Oliver has both.
Because of her strong GPA and play on the women’s basketball team, Oliver was named a 2011 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete. She was one of 127 players chosen nationally. Eighteen players from the Sooner Athletic Conference were included.
“We’re proud of her,” Coach Laci Tompkins said. “She’s a great student and a great person on and off the floor.”
The 2010-11 season was Oliver’s first at USAO. She scored 119 points, including 78 from beyond the arc. She also had 28 assists on the season.
Oliver has maintained a 3.60 GPA as a speech pathology major, despite the rigors of her athletic schedule.
Earlier this month, Oliver was named Academic All-Conference as well.
She is from Elgin and is the daughter of Dale and Renell Oliver.
