CHICKASHA – In a close game on Saturday afternoon, the Drovers couldn’t overcome the Wayland Baptist Flying Queens and dropped 75-66 in the home game.
In the Saturday game, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (3-7, 2-5) and the Queens (7-8, 4-2) went back and forth, each grabbing the lead eight times.
A long three-pointer by USAO’s Amber Chaney sent the Drovers into halftime leading 37-34.
The teams traded leads until there was about seven minutes left when the Queens grabbed their decisive lead. Their largest lead of the night was the nine-point at the final buzzer.
Brittany Elkins led the Drovers in scoring with 18 points in Saturday’s game. Close behind her was senior Rashelle Carr, who had 17 points and led the team in assists with three and in steals with four.
Sophomore Sami Martin scored 13 points while Paige Pulliam led the team in rebounds with seven. Pulliam and Chaney each had seven points.
The Drovers travel to Southwestern Christian on Thursday night before returning home to take on No. 3 Oklahoma City on Saturday afternoon beginning at 3 p.m. It will be USAO’s first ever First National Bank night.
