More than halfway through her first season as head coach of the Lady Drovers, Coach Laci Tompkins and the Drovers are still working through the adjustment.

“I just want to build our program and make it one of the classiest ones in the region and make it to be one that people and family and townspeople of Chickasha and the region can be proud of and want to come watch basketball,” she said.

She said her team has been positive and continues to be eager through the adjustment that comes with any new coach.

Tompkins is not new to USAO, having played for the Drover basketball and softball teams while attending the university. She then stayed on as assistant basketball and head softball coach for three years.

“This school is dear and near to my heart, and I love to be back,” she said. “I love to play at home in front of our crowd. We just want to make them proud."

Tompkins is just one win shy of 200 career wins as a head coach of a college program.
