CHICKASHA – As the team’s only four-year starter, Tashina Ototivo has been through it all with the Drovers — and this season has held no exception to the gamut of highs and lows.

The season started off strong for the Drovers, who were 9-3 going into conference play. But the tough Sooner Athletic Conference slowed the season down — something Ototivo said they are working to overcome.

Bison beat the Drovers

CHICKASHA – The OBU Bison came out on top of the Drovers in a Tuesday night battle at the USAO Fieldhouse.

USAO found itself struggling to keep up with the Bison, who made 54.4 percent of their shots on Tuesday night. The Drovers fell 79-46.

No. 2 Lady Chaps too much for the Drovers

CHICKASHA – The Drover women battled hard and never gave up, but just couldn’t overcome the powerful No. 2 Lubbock Christian team.

Tough to defend, the Lady Chaps held up to their hype and shot 52 percent from the field in the game.

The Drovers, who scored 54 on the No. 2 team in the country, had 27 bench points as compared to the Chaps’ 23.

Flying Queens top the Drovers

CHICKASHA – The Drovers played a hard first half but couldn’t overcome the powerful second half by Wayland Baptist and fell 74-59 on Thursday night.

USAO (9-5, 0-5) led 33-28 at halftime, but the Flying Queens shot nearly 50 percent from the field in the second half and took the lead in the final 10 minutes of the game.

CHICKASHA – In her first season at the helm of the Drover women’s basketball team, Coach Jennifer Hayden and her team are off to a solid season going into a tough conference.

“We’re off to a pretty good start. Overall, we’ve been happy,” she said. “We have quite a few new faces, and that’s where the non-conference has been very beneficial for us.”

Four Drovers grab double digits in battle against JBU

CHICKASHA – Four Drovers scored in the double digits against John Brown on Tuesday night at the USAO Fieldhouse.

Leading the pack were seniors Krista Ford and Rocio Medrano, who each had 17 points. Tashina Ototivo had 10 points and led the team in rebounds with eight. Junior Rashelle Carr had 10 points.

CHICKASHA – The USAO women had little problem fighting the Northwood Knights on Saturday afternoon in their last home game of 2012, leading nearly the entire game before winning it 72-60.

The Drovers (7-2) dominated the game, giving up the lead just once in the first two minutes, but quickly recovering and leading for the remainder of the game.

Drovers rout the Warriors

CHICKASHA – The Drovers grab their second home win with a rout over the Warriors of Bacone College, winning the game 66-46 on Monday night.

The Drovers (6-2) won by 20 but were leading at one point by as much as 34 at halftime.

Bacone quickly jumped off to a 4-0 lead, but the lead didn’t last long – and they weren’t able to get it back.

CHICKASHA – The Drovers slid past Southwestern Christian in USAO’s home opener on Tuesday evening, thanks in part to strong rebounding by junior Ndeye Ngom.

Ngom had 17 rebounds and 12 points in the game. She went 4-for-6 from the field and a perfect 2-for-2 beyond the arc.
