CHICKASHA – The USAO women had little problem fighting the Northwood Knights on Saturday afternoon in their last home game of 2012, leading nearly the entire game before winning it 72-60.

CHICKASHA – The Drovers grab their second home win with a rout over the Warriors of Bacone College, winning the game 66-46 on Monday night.

The Drovers (6-2) won by 20 but were leading at one point by as much as 34 at halftime.

Bacone quickly jumped off to a 4-0 lead, but the lead didn’t last long – and they weren’t able to get it back.

CHICKASHA – The Drovers slid past Southwestern Christian in USAO’s home opener on Tuesday evening, thanks in part to strong rebounding by junior Ndeye Ngom.

Ngom had 17 rebounds and 12 points in the game. She went 4-for-6 from the field and a perfect 2-for-2 beyond the arc.

CHICKASHA – After leading the Drovers in points scored in their first two games, senior Krista Ford was named the first Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Week for women’s basketball.

Ford, who joined the Drovers just this season from Sul Ross State University, had 27 points in the team’s opener against Southwestern Assemblies of God and 17 the following day against Friends University. The Drovers won both games.

CHICKASHA – Steadily improving and keeping grades high will be the focuses of the 2012-13 women’s basketball team as they continue to transition with new Head Coach Jennifer Hayden.

“Certainly a goal for me coming in is to bring the team up and make it to the conference tournament,” Hayden said. “We always set an academic goal as well. We want to achieve a higher than 3.3 GPA.”

CHICKASHA – After shining on the court and in the classroom, USAO alumna Stephanie Liebl Huber continues to shine professionally.

Huber, a 1998 business graduate, played for the Drovers’ women’s basketball team from 1994 to 1998 and has gone to develop a successful law career.

USAO will celebrate its 40th Anniversary of Drover Athletics in first weekend of November. Registration, which is just $65 for a weekend full of events, is open currently, but prices will increase in less than two weeks. The deadline for early bird registration is Sept. 30.
