CHICKASHA – Four of the five USAO women’s cross country runners posted their best five-kilometer time in a meet at Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday.
Junior Brittni Kent beat her own school record, finishing the race with a sub 20 minute time. Cutting more than 30 seconds off her record, which she set just last week, Kent posted a time of 19:35.00. She finished the race 21st of 101 competitors.
Beatriz Rey, a senior from Texhoma, also finished the race in the top half. She cut nearly a minute off of her best time, which she set in the Drovers’ first race. Rey posted a time of 21:15.00.
Shortly behind her was Tabby Bailey, a senior from Tulsa. Bailey cut nearly 30 seconds off of her best time, finishing in 21:54.00.
Also setting a personal record was junior Katie Jones. Jones had the biggest improvement on the team, cutting almost a minute and a half — or nearly 30 seconds per mile — off her time and finishing in 24:31.00.
Deborah Park was the Drovers’ fourth racer to finish. She ran the 5K in 22:41.00.
As a team, the Drovers finished with an average time of 21:59.00 and came in ninth in the race, falling just ahead of Oklahoma Wesleyan and Northwood University.
The Drovers have one more regular season race. They compete on Oct. 20 at the NAIA Mid-States Classic in Winfield, Kan.
