CHICKASHA – Two Drovers recorded their best times in Saturday’s Sooner Athletic Conference Championship meet at Oklahoma Baptist.

In the meet, both Tabby Bailey and Katie Jones finished the five-kilometer race faster than they have all season. Bailey, who sat out injured in the previous race, finished in 21:30.60, 25 seconds fast than she did a month ago.

CHICKASHA – Two Drover women set their own person records for five-kilometers in a Saturday race in Winfield, Kan.

Competing at Southwestern College, both senior Beatriz Rey and freshman Deborah Park recorded their best times to date.

CHICKASHA – Albert Loveless, Jr., may have been the epitome of an interdisciplinary studies student at USAO in the mid-1990s. Loveless, an art student turned athlete, ran cross country for the Drovers in 1994, competing both seasons of the sport.

CHICKASHA – Four of the five USAO women’s cross country runners posted their best five-kilometer time in a meet at Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday.

Junior Brittni Kent beat her own school record, finishing the race with a sub 20 minute time. Cutting more than 30 seconds off her record, which she set just last week, Kent posted a time of 19:35.00. She finished the race 21st of 101 competitors.

CHICKASHA – Brittni Kent this week became the first USAO runner to be named a Sooner Athletic Conference Runner of the Week.

Kent finished second in the Oklahoma City Fall Classic on Saturday, beating out 20 other runners in the race. She posted a time of 21:24.95, seconds before OCU’s lead runner.

CHICKASHA – The Drover women came in second to conference foe Oklahoma City in the Oklahoma City Open on Saturday, led once again by Brittni Kent, who was the second female to cross the finish line.

Kent, who came in second to Oklahoma Wesleyan’s Allie Antrim, posted a time of 21:24.95 for the five-kilometer race. Not far behind her was Beatriz Rey, who came in sixth with a time of 22:22.13.

CHICKASHA – After four years of running up and down the basketball court, senior Tabby Bailey has turned her efforts to running longer distances. Bailey joined the USAO cross country team, which is in its first year.

“I ran cross country in high school and I really liked it then so I felt like this was another opportunity for me to shine,” she said.

USAO will celebrate its 40th Anniversary of Drover Athletics in first weekend of November. Registration, which is just $65 for a weekend full of events, is open currently, but prices will increase in less than two weeks. The deadline for early bird registration is Sept. 30.

CHICKASHA – Against stiff competition, the Drover women raced in the UCO Land Run on Saturday morning to open the first season back for women’s cross country at USAO.

Nearly 70 participants raced in the five-kilometer race.

Leading the Drovers was Brittni Kent with a time of 21:22.47. Kent, a junior from Sapulpa, rushed back after the meet to play in the Drover women’s soccer game, also Saturday morning.
