CHICKASHA – Oklahoma Baptist will move on to play in the Sooner Athletic Conference Championship game after ending the Drovers’ season with a 4-1 victory in the Semifinals on Monday afternoon.
The score doesn’t accurately reflect the back-and-forth battle of the game. Both teams shot 21 times for the game with a 10-9 shot on goal count in favor of the Bison.
Defender Ryah Vyse, who moved into a forward position after halftime, led the team in shots with six. Redshirt freshman Linda Addo, who was named the final Sooner Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week earlier Monday, had just one shot.
USAO’s lone goal came from an unassisted goal by Kellie Korleski with just 15 minutes left in the game. It was her first goal of the year and fifth in her four-year career as a defender.
Freshman keeper Brooke Worcester had six saves in the game.
After starting the season with a rough 0-4 record, the Drovers went on to go 11-3-1 in the remainder of the season, finishing the year 11-7-1.
“It was a good year for the ladies, a bad day, but a good year,” Head Coach Jimmy Hampton said after the game. “I am proud of them and will miss my senior class.”
