CHICKASHA– In the third game of the season, the defense got their first true test with the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (3-0) grabbing the 2-0 victory over Kansas Wesleyan (0-1).
Senior Goalkeeper Addie Lee was busy as she grabbed nine saves on 17 shots faced to grab her first shutout of the season. The Drover fell behind in the shot count from the get go but it only took one shot to get on the scoreboard.
Linda Addo grabbed her second goal of the season three minutes into the game off an assist by Ryah Vyse to take the early 1-0 lead, and the Drover defense went on cruise control from there.
It was a defensive battle for the rest of the half until the Drovers would get some insurance when Jade Ovendale grabbed her fifth goal of the season. Her goal came unassisted as she continues her early season success to help the Drovers to a perfect record.
With the final game of the road trip completed the Drovers will be heading home for a six games in a row before Sooner Athletic Conference play beings at the end of September.
The first game of the home stand will be at 1 p.m. on Friday Sept. 5 against No. 19 Our Lady of the Lake and will look to make it four straight victories to start the season.
