CHICKASHA – The Drovers went back and forth with Oklahoma Baptist on Tuesday afternoon before taking the final goal to give USAO an important conference win.

With the win, the Drovers (9-6) are now 4-2 in the Sooner Athletic Conference and well on their way to another conference tournament.

It didn’t take long for the scoring to get underway. OBU’s Elisa Brito scored a goal just eight minutes into the game. Just before the 20-minute mark, freshman Vanessa Yates tied it up off an assist by senior Calli Cooper.

The game went into halftime tied 1-1.

In the second half, Yates assisted a goal by senior Taylor Fain to give the Drovers the lead for the first time in the game.

Brito again tied the score less than 10 minutes later, but that lasted 30 seconds before Calli Cooper gave the Drovers the lead back with a goal off an assist by Britani Soesbee.

It took just a minute and a half for OBU to strike again. The game remained tied 3-3 until just three minutes before the end of regulation when Cooper knocked a final goal in off an assist by Megan Wilkerson.

The Drovers took the 4-3 win. Freshman goalkeeper Brooke Worcester had five saves in the game and earned her ninth win.

The Drovers outshot the Bison 30-24 in the game that was dominated by both team’s offenses.

Tuesday was USAO’s last regular season home game. The Drovers travel to Lubbock Christian and Wayland Baptist next week. The conference tournament will take place beginning Nov. 2, with the higher seed hosting. Details can be found on the USAO sports website.

It was Senior Day at Drover Pitch. USAO honored its six Drover seniors: Calli Cooper, Kelli Korleski, Kaitlyn Witty, Taylor Fain, Jordyn Yates and Erin Coggan.

Additionally, USAO’s Drovers Against Cancer is raffling off a pink jersey signed by all the players. Raffle tickets are $1 per ticket or $5 for six. To join the raffle, call Dr. Jeannette Loutsch at (405) 574-1325.
