CHICKASHA – Despite doubling the Lady Pioneers shot count on Tuesday afternoon, the Drovers fell to Wayland Baptist in a conference game at Drover Pitch.
The Lady Pioneers (7-3, 2-0), who top the Sooner Athletic Conference, scored three goals — all in the first half — to best the Drovers (1-7, 0-2) with a final score of 3-1.
USAO’s lone goal was a header into the left side of the goal by Ryah Vyse, directly off a corner by freshman Rhiannon Brewster.
The Drovers spent most of the game on the attack, outshooting WBU 20-10 and had six corner kicks to the Lady Pioneers’ two.
Brooke Worcester spent the whole 90 minutes in the box and recorded four saves.
The Drovers next game will be next Tuesday against John Brown, with a start time of 1 p.m.
It will be the Drovers’ third annual Pink Out Cancer game, hosted by Drovers Against Cancer. Fans from both sides are encouraged to wear pink to the game as a unified front against cancer. Drovers Against Cancer members will be selling concessions and honoring survivors at half time.
