CHICKASHA – Head coach Jimmy Hampton announced the signing of nine women’s soccer players from across Oklahoma and Texas as part of the 2009 signing class. Hampton, the Director of Girls Coaching for the Edmond Soccer Club, signed three players from the ESC.
The signees from the ESC include Sam Dehart, a defender/forward from Union City, Katie Matuska, a goalkeeper from Broken Arrow, and Kaitlyn Witty, a midfielder from Mustang. All could see action right away as freshmen.
“Sam plays with good pace and a tremendous left foot,” Hampton Said. “She is going to make a big impact for us. Katie Matuska is a standout goalkeeper, and with her abilities we feel that she can come in and compete to be one of the best goalkeepers in the country. And Kaitlyn’s technical abilities and good decision making is going to strengthen a very good midfield.”
Hampton’s coaching staff also signed five players from the Westside Alliance ’91 team that they feel can make an impact.
Tiffany Cordova, a defender from Midwest City, has a great work rate. Her ability to defend is going to improve an already good back line for the Drovers. Jen Liedall, a forward from Del City, has good speed and a great knack for scoring goals.
Amber Lloyd, from Midwest City, is expected to make an impact in a few areas. The coaching staff feels she can play anywhere and compete for playing time. Mistery Neal, an attacking midfielder/forward from Yukon, will help offensively as well. Her technical abilities and decision making in the final third is going to help create scoring opportunities for the Drovers.
Morgan Swink, an outside midfield from Guthrie, is very good with the ball and makes really good decisions, according to Hampton. USAO also signed three players from the Associated Soccer Group ’91 located in the Dallas area.
Erin Coggan, a defender from Cedar Hill, is expected to be one of the best players in the conference, according to Hampton. Jordyn Yates, a defender from Waxahachie, will strengthen an already very good back line, and Kelli Korleski, a defender from Mansfield, is also going to have a big impact in the conference.
The USAO coaching staff also signed a local player. Erikka Griffith from Lawton MacArthur High School was a standout forward who has the potential to score a lot of goals for the Drovers.
