CHICKASHA– In the opening game of the 2014 season, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (1-0) came out on a scoring frenzy to get the 5-1 win on the road at Bacone College (0-2).

Reigning Sooner Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year Jade Ovendale was the offensive threat for the Drovers as she grabbed three goals and one assist to help secure the victory. It was Ovendale’s third hat trick at USAO.

USAO got on the board first when Ovendale put the ball in the net from a pass by Shannon Greenway to get a 1-0 lead.

The other offensive stars were freshmen Lauren Parker and Jordan Cleveland. Parker was involved with the next two goals, scoring the second goal and assisted Ovendale on goal No. 3.

Cleveland scored the fifth and final goal while also grabbing an assist on Ovendale’s third goal.

Senior goalkeeper Addie Lee had only allowed one goal on the game to help the Drovers get on top of win column.

The Drovers continue their road trip at 4 p.m. on Thursday when they take on Bethany College (Kansas) and Kansas Wesleyan at 3 p.m. on Saturday.

After the road trip, the Drovers will return home for the 2014 home opener against Our Lady of the Lake on Sept. 5. Kick off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
