CHICKASHA — Coming from a family of 11, Drover junior Gabby Martinez is used to working with a team and her soccer success shows just that.
While the team has sustained a couple of losses, Martinez said they are learning from them and will come out strong in the future.
“I felt like we did good against the DII schools. You know we always want the win. I feel like we came out short in the end,” Martinez said of a loss and a tie early in the season.
The team began conference play this week against one of the conference’s toughest teams: Oklahoma City. The Drover women were defeated, but that doesn’t end post-season hopes.
“We’re going to talk about what we need to fix. I think overall, we just need to get our confidence back,” she said. “We really do want to see OCU again. We want to show them that we’re not that team we showed last game. We want to come back and get them.”
