CHICKASHA – A strong defensive battle and a late goal forces the Drovers fall in their season opener in double overtime.

The Drovers (0-1) fought a tough match against the University of Houston-Victoria (2-0) and kept the Jaguars in check defensively for most of the game.

USAO came in to the second half with a 2-1 lead, but for the remainder of the game, the Jaguars shut down the Drovers and outshot them 15-6.

CHICKASHA – Coach Jimmy Hampton has led the Drovers since soccer began and have brought both programs to top-notch teams that are recognized nationally — and this year is no exception.

The men, who were picked to top the Sooner Athletic Conference and start the season ranked in the Top 10 in the NAIA, Hampton said he thought their performance in a preseason scrimmage against a Top 15 team a great start.

CHICKASHA – USAO Soccer announces the High School and Team Residential Soccer Camp, which will take place July 14-16 on the university’s campus.

Hosted by the USAO soccer coaches and led by camp director Jimmy Hampton, the camp spans three days of intensive soccer training while giving campers an opportunity to live on campus.

CHICKASHA – Honored for her scholastic achievement as well and athletic success, USAO senior Erin Coggan was named a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete on Friday.

She is one of 17 players in the state to be named to the list, which is complete with 492 players nationwide. Players must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 to qualify.

CHICKASHA – Redshirt freshman Linda Addo was named the final Sooner Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for women’s soccer on Monday afternoon.

Addo helped the Drovers win the SAC Quarterfinals by scoring both the Drovers’ goals in the 2-1 win over Lubbock Christian.

She finished the season with the team high of 15 goals. She had two hat tricks and four multiple-goal games on the season.
