Mike Carter of Duncan brings 20+ years of fire service and emergency management experienced, coupled with CLEET certification and security/law enforcement experience to USAO.
He previously served as chief of the Lawton Fire Department, where he also managed the fire marshal's office. His fire service experience began in High Point, N.C., in 1972. Among his varied career interests, Carter was an educator who taught high school English and coached basketball and softball in Empire, Okla. He also owned and managed a construction management business.
He is a former president of the Oklahoma Fire Chief's Association. He worked with a team in Lawton to research, design and implement the first combined, centralized E-911 communications center for the City of Lawton.
