Museum Internship in Education

Chisholm Trail Heritage Center, Duncan, OK

Fall of 2013

The Chisholm Trail Heritage Center seeks an intern to assist Museum Educators and Education Coordinators in carrying out education programs and interpretation of temporary exhibitions and the museum’s art gallery.

Salary: Unpaid-Eligible for academic credit.

Work Schedule: Flexible, Monday through Friday, mornings or afternoons, 10-15 hours a week

Basic Functions:

Collaborate with Museum Educators, the Education Coordinator, and the Associate Curator and Programs Coordinator, for special programs and administrative functions. Provide support for creating educational programs and materials, including docent programs, teacher communication, workshops and events.

Responsibilities:

Assist with any of the following:

o Docent Programs

o Youth and Family Programs

o Adult programs

o Tours

o Events and Workshops

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Detail oriented
  • Experience teaching or working with groups
  • Strong interpersonal
  • Undergraduate or Graduate students majoring in art, education, history, museum studies, or related field.

Museum Internship in Registration and Collection Management

Chisholm Trail Heritage Center, Duncan, OK

The Chisholm Trail Heritage Center seeks an intern to assist the Museum Manager and Associate Curator with managing the museum’s art gallery and registration duties.

Salary: Unpaid-Eligible for academic credit.

Work Schedule: Flexible, Monday through Friday, mornings or afternoons, 10-15 hours a week

Basic Functions:

Collaborate with the Museum Manager and Associate Curator by providing support for collection management by creating labels, assisting with setting up temporary exhibitions, learning general museum registration knowledge and preservation practices.

Responsibilities:

Assist with any of the following:

o Creating labels for exhibitions

o Data entry

o Preparation for incoming and outgoing exhibits

o Facility reports and loaned items

o Care for interactive exhibits

o Setting up for events and workshops

Preferred Qualifications:

•Undergraduate or graduate student

• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work well with people of all levels

• Must be EXTREMELY detail oriented.

• Excellent writing and oral communication skills; the ability to understand and translate information for intended audiences with clarity

Museum Internship in Public Relations

The Chisholm Trail Heritage Center seeks an intern to assist museum staff in carrying out marketing and public relation duties.

Salary: Unpaid-Eligible for academic credit.

Work Schedule: Flexible, Monday through Friday, mornings or afternoons, 10-15 hours a week

Basic Functions:

Collaborate with museum staff by providing support for creating and developing educational flyers for events, exhibitions, and programs.

Responsibilities:

Assist with any of the following:

o Assist with marketing strategies

o Assist with social media planning and execution

o Serve as graphic design support

o Developing and updating web content

o Assist writing press releases and newsletter articles for various programs and events

o Participate in planning and executing special events

Preferred Qualifications:

•Undergraduate or graduate students majoring in graphic design, public relations, advertising, marketing, or a related field.

• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work well with people of all levels

• Proficient in Adobe software, and Microsoft Office

• Excellent writing and oral communication skills; the ability to understand and translate information for intended audiences with clarity

Seeking college student to assist with following tasks:

Repair, maintain, troubleshoot, and install desktop and notebook
computer systems, hardware and computer peripherals. Understand commonly
used concepts, practices, and procedures.  Provide support to customers on
various issues. Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems and
concerns of customers. Answers inquiries in person and via telephone,
e-mail and voice mail concerning the use of computer hardware and software,
including printing, word processing, electronic mail, and operating
systems.   Refers specialized technical problems to senior technical staff.
Requires knowledge of Microsoft Office software; Microsoft Window operating
systems; troubleshooting and support of PCs and peripherals.
