Student Life at USAO is a perfect complement to our liberal arts education and enhances the overall education experience of our students. USAO offers a variety of involvement opportunties through leadership development program, volunteer opportunities, orientation, student success workshops and student club/organization advisement.
Much of student life goes on outside the classroom. That’s not to say that USAO puts the classroom experience anywhere but first in importance. It simply means that the total university experience cannot be realized through academic involvement alone. If a university education can be seen as rehearsal for one’s future, then such rehearsal must include a large amount of experience with other human beings. The University's Student Association, Student Activities Board and student clubs/organizations also provide a variety of opportunties to get involved in student life. Getting involved is a great way to meet new people, gain leadereship skills, and engage in co-curricular activities that enrich the student experience. You are sure to find something at USAO!
Start with Nash Library, the heart of research to every student, but also a great place to meet people, read the latest magazines, surf the Internet -- hang out. Computer labs in Austin Hall, Troutt Hall, and Gary Hall also are open to students, and a special Writing Center in Davis Hall (with tutors available) helps students with writing assignments. Both Art and Music majors will find special computer labs with equipment geared towards their disciplines. Mini-labs are also open designed specifically for various other major degree programs.
What else? Intramural sports? USAO has them. And dances and art festivals and concerts ... but read on. Below are links to some of USAO's many opportunities for student involvement on campus. Take a look around, you'll like what you see!
