The Political Science Major at USAO
Political Science is an academic and research discipline that deals with the theory and practice of politics and the description and analysis of political systems and political behavior. There are several fields within political science, all having equal relevance: public administration, American government and institutions, comparative government, international relations, political theory, and political methodology. The Political Science program provides a foundation for the student interested in future graduate work, as well as a potential career in government, law, or law enforcement. A pre-professional program for students interested in a law career or public affairs is also offered.
The Political Science major at USAO requires 30 hours, of which 6 are required and 24 additional are elective. This allows the student to tailor his or her program to specific interests or fields within the discipline. For more information on the IDS Program and USAO's general curriculum, click here.
