An Interdisciplinary Science and Arts Camp for Gifted Students
The four-day camp for elementary school students will emphasize USAO’s commitment to interdisciplinary education and will feature sessions from the sciences including wildlife, math, geology, food science, environmental science, physics, chemistry and computers, as well as sessions from the arts including writing, music and art. Sessions will be taught by University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma summer faculty.
Students should arrive at USAO between 8:30 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. and the day ends at 4:00 p.m. Lunch will be provided. Most of the activities are hands-on and include outdoor activities. The camps are limited to 20 students to emphasize the personal attention that characterizes the USAO experience. There are two different sets of dates for the camp depending on the grade of the student as of Fall 2014. The dates are:
June 16-19 5th-7th grade as of Fall 2014
June 23-26 3rd and 4th grade as of Fall 2014
Students must be enrolled in a gifted program (or an equivalent program) and recommended by the teacher.
Cost for the camps is $125. A limited number of scholarships are available for those whose camp fee could present a financial hardship.
