The Accent is an on-going, contemporary publication designed by students for students. The Accent was originally launched in 2012 by former Science & Arts professor Dr. Meagan Rodgers and a dedicated group of students as an initiative from the office of the Vice President of Academic Affairs to showcase the literary and artistic talents of Science & Arts students. From the beginning, The Accent has proven to be an inclusive space for aspiring artists of all disciplines to display their work in a competitive environment. Under the new direction of Dr. Tonnia L. Anderson, The Accent is becoming more community-oriented via events like poetry slams and other live readings. Building a stronger Science & Arts community through the Arts is top priority for the publication. Through these efforts, we hope to provide students with an exciting venue to present their creative voices.
