Granados, Juan 1999
A widely regarded artist and professor, Juan Granados received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in 1987. He then attended Ohio State University where he was given a full paid scholarship based on academic performance, art work, scholarship potential, and letters of reference. He received a Master of Fine Arts in 1991. Wile studying at Ohio State, he also taught for two years. He continued teaching for four years at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Washington, before arriving at Texas Tech Univesity where he is in his fifth year of teaching. His work has been featured in 18 solo exhibitions in Texas, Washington, Oregon, Oklahoma, Ohio, and California. In addition to these shows, his works have been selected for over 50 national and international exhibitions. These shows are of juried and invitational exhibition venues with jurors of national and international reputation. In these shows he has received two best of show awards, a second place award, and a purchase award. He has had or been a part of 15 national and international publications. In addition to his art work, he has given lectures at several universities and museums regarding his work, given several workshops at universities, and juried four national ceramic exhibitions. He began the “Clay on the Wall” project at Eastern Washington University which has been held four times since 1994.
